| John Runge--Building Inspector for Cumberland |
|
| John Runge, Jr., 58, of Lincoln, RI, died Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Hospice Inpatient
Center, Providence. Born in Queens, NY, he was the son of Edith (Henkel) Lagzdins of
Wakefield, RI and the late John Runge. John was the building inspector for the town of
Cumberland for the last twelve years. He received his BS from SUNY at New Paltz. John grew
up in Woodstock, New York, toured the country as a lead guitar player with various
groups and was a home builder in Florida. Besides his mother he is survived by a brother, Igor
Runge and his wife Ann Marie of Wakefield, RI; a sister, Yvonne Donovan of New Smyrna Beach, FL;
two nephews, Max Runge of Wakefield and Barron Donovan of New Smyrna Beach
and a niece Erika Runge of Wakefield. A memorial gathering will be held Sunday February 27th
from 2-4 PM at the Cumberland Senior Center, 1464 Diamond Hill Road,
Cumberland. Donations in his memory may be made to Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085
North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.

The employees of the Town of Cumberland are saddened at the passing of John Runge, our Building Inspector. John has served the town since 1999 and will be missed as a co-worker and friend. Rest in Peace, John.
The members of the Rhode Island Building Official's Association are deeply saddened by the loss of John Runge. We keep him and his family in our thoughts and prayers.

On October 19, 2010 International Code Council CEO Rick Weiland was in RI to announce with Govorner Donald Carcieri and RI State Building Commissioner Jack Leyden that RI is the FIRST State to adopt the ICC Green Construction Code via the RI "Green Buildings Act."
Govorner Carcieri also installed the recently elected RIBOA officers and CEO Rick Weiland pined each new officer.
